Our “currently under construction” sports complex has been given it’s inaugural name, “Fieldgate Sports Complex.” It is a Whitby project and is being built in Brooklin, the north part of Whitby. And it just happens to be less than 2 km from our location. That is really exciting for us!
I’m trying to get updates on the plans, indoor and outdoor facilities, but can’t seem to find current information. The site I found still states that it is scheduled to open in the fall of 2025… so obviously not up-to-date.
The facility boasts the largest swimming pool in Durham region, two ice pads, a double gymnasium with a walking track, multiple indoor and lit outdoor pickleball courts, lit outdoor tennis courts, childrens outdoor recreation park, a skate park, sports fields, and indoor spaces for community programmes, and it will be accessible for all ages and abilities.
