Things Don't Get Easier As Much As We Get Better

My MasterMind group sent me this link about a week ago.  It’s a short clip of Duke Women’s Basketball coach, Kara Lawson, setting expectations for her team.

Coach Kara reminds us not to expect life to somehow become easier on us. But that’s OK because we have the power to overcome bigger and bigger obstacles because each successive challenge, whether we ace it or just survive it, makes us better at handling harder stuff. If you haven’t already realized, challenges and obstacles help us prepare for even greater life experiences in the future.  Just like allowing our bodies to experience successive childhood disease exposures teaches our immune systems to be stronger and more competent to handle the more complicated health threats that are ahead of us. What doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger.

Don’t expect life to get easier, but as  Coach Kara Lawson put it, we can grow to
“Handle Hard Better”.
