Our Chiropractic Techniques
The Activator IV instrument.
Dr. du Quesnay completed her chiropractic education at CMCC in Toronto. CMCC teaches basic manual adjusting techniques generally referred to as “Diversified”. Since graduating, Dr. du Quesnay has continued to enroll in ongoing educational and technique courses, refining her knowledge base and skills in order to deliver her best service to you. Over the years, she has learned and incorporated other adjusting techniques into her practice; Torque Release, Talsky Tonal, and Activator Methods.
The technique Dr. du Quesnay currently employs almost exclusively is Activator Methods in which she has maintained an Advanced Proficiency Rating since the early 2000’s. Activator Methods is an assessment protocol that is performed on each patient at every visit to determine where and when to adjust, and most importantly, when not to adjust. It also provides feedback to determine if the adjustment delivered had the desired result of reducing the subluxation, thereby restoring coherent function to the spine and Central Nervous System (CNS) … aka helping you to heal. The protocol utilizes a hand held instrument, the Activator, to deliver the adjustive thrust that releases the subluxation.
Soon after becoming a chiropractor, Dr. du Quesnay trained through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) and became a Fellow of the ICPA in order to hone her skills helping pregnant women, babies and children to express their best health. She was lucky enough to be trained by Larry Webster himself in what is now globally known as the Webster Technique; a technique that releases the stress on a pregnant woman’s pelvis, allowing the uterus and surrounding ligaments to relax, permitting the baby to move and turn naturally. Dr. du Quesnay also studied Torque Release Technique with the founder, Jay Holder, and Talsky Tonal Technique with Marvin Talsky.
All these techniques share an emphasis on the use of gentle forces to release subluxations (interference in the CNS), allowing your body to express it’s fullest health and optimal potential. In a nutshell, we remove interference in the neural feedback loop using the smallest forces we can. You heal, function and adapt to life better.
